Sightseeing in Safaga - what to see. Complete travel guide

The Egyptian town of Safaga is located sixty kilometers from Hurghada. This lovely settlement has one major advantage that makes it truly attractive to tourists. Safaga has many excellent beaches that are not crowded unlike many other popular resorts in the world. The town goes to sleep in the evening, so Safaga is not the best choice for vacationers who are keen on active nightlife. As a rule, there are always many fans of windsurfing among guests of this Egyptian resort. Additionally, Safaga is perfectly suitable for families in search of a peaceful and serene vacation at the Red Sea coast. Do you like diving? In this case, you will find it very exciting to explore the picturesque coral reefs.
The history of the resort started many years ago when a small fishing village was founded here. In the past, the development of Safaga was closely connected with the sea. The settlement emerged at the crossing of the sea route with the land one. When a port opened in Safaga, exotic spices and jewelry appeared in the town. The healing properties of local nature remained a secret for many years. In the 90s of the 20th century, German tourists made a stop in Safaga. Some of these tourists suffered from psoriasis and some had rheumatism. The sick tourists felt significantly better after a vacation in Safaga.
Soon after that, scientists arrived in the town with the purpose of studying local nature. They discovered that the sand in this area indeed had an amazing healing effect. The popularity of Safaga started growing beyond the borders of the country. Foreign guests with psoriasis, rheumatism, and patients with the supporting-motor apparatus diseases were arriving in this Red Sea resort. Archaeological excavations in the Safaga area proved that local people lived longer than Egyptians in other parts of the country because of the healing properties of this area. Starting from 1993, Safaga has been hosting the Windsurfing World Championship. Copyright www.orangesmile.com
All beaches in Safaga are perfectly suitable for families and groups of vacationers. Local coastal areas are always calm and peaceful. Soft sand covers all beaches. Moreover, this sand is good for health. The sea water is so clean that it is easy to see the bottom without any special equipment. Hospitable Safaga welcomes its guests all year round. Visitors can always rent everything they need for comfortable recreation, for example, sun loungers and umbrellas. Numerous cafes and restaurants along the seaside offer delicious cool beverages.
Fans of windsurfing noticed Safaga beaches in the 90s of the 20th century. Since that time, thousands of windsurfing enthusiasts have visited this resort to not only practice but also participate in the legendary world championship. Besides fans of this water sport, Safaga has become famous among diving enthusiasts and people who enjoy exploring the sea bottom. The Red Sea has prepared a wonderful treasure for all guests of the town – magnificent coral reefs. There are so many coral reefs in the area that it is not possible to see them all in one go. Guests can always rent diving equipment directly on the beach.
Panorama Reef is a popular reef formation not far from Safaga. This is one of the largest coral reefs in the region. Panorama Reef has almost vertical walls that go more than two hundred meters down. This is one of the hottest diving spots in the Red Sea. The natural treasure consists of several reefs that form an interesting amphitheater shape. The water is transparent here, and the underwater world is very beautiful and diverse. During an underwater journey here, divers can see salmons and sharks, barracudas and morays, stingrays and funny clownfish, and even beautiful butterflyfish.
The Ottoman Fort is the main attraction of the resort. The centuries-old complex is a stone building with thick walls. Each of the remaining parts of the landmark keeps a piece of the history of this region. The Ottoman Fort was built in the 16th century. Much time has passed since then, and the fort is still in good condition. Nowadays, tourists enjoy visiting excursions to the fort, during which they find out about the history of the town and the fort, take a stroll in the area, and feel the atmosphere of the past that is always in the air here.
It is not possible to fly directly to Safaga at the moment. There is Hurghada Airport sixty kilometers from the resort. This airport receives flights from many countries of the world. Having arrived in Hurghada, tourists need to switch to a bus or taxi to get to Safaga. Needless to say, the price of a taxi is significantly more expensive but taxis are available round the clock and the journey time is only thirty-five minutes.

Sightseeing in Egypt: things to see

Pyramids have always been the main symbol of Egypt. There are more than a hundred of pyramids in the country. Giza is the location of the most famous landmark of Egypt – the Great Pyramid of Giza. The complex consists of three pyramids that are named after pharaohs Khafre, Cheops and Menkaure. These magnificent buildings are surrounded by tombs of other noble people – famous politicians, priests, pharaoh wives and other important figures of those days. The Great Sphinx of Giza is the most unusual statue in whole Egypt. The sphinx was made from a solid rock. Unfortunately, during its long history the statue was damaged during attacks of Mamlukes and Napoleon army. Nowadays, visitors can see an interesting laser show that takes place near the pyramids every evening. … Open

Manchester Airport Gets a Hotel

Wellness travel has been a hit in the US in recent years but the trend is not so big in Europe. IHG hopes that by opening more hotels like EVEN it will increase awareness and popularity of wellness in the UK. Although the hotel is located near to the airport, the distance to such important objects as top universities and colleges, cultural landmarks, and natural attractions is also short. Tax-free outlets are a cherry on top of the pie. To make it more comfortable for guests to get to and from the airport, the hotel has a free shuttle service and a free parking lot. Read this
