More Countries Receive WTTC Safe Travel Stamp

News Earlier this year, WTTC launched a new system that tells tourists that a certain destination is safe to visit during the COVID-19 crisis. Aimed to help the tourism sector in different countries, this stamp is good for travelers too as it raises awareness and makes tourists more confident about their vacation. More than 145 destinations around the world have already received the Safe Travel Stamp including such popular holiday hotspots as Portugal, the Maldives, Puerto Rico, Turkey, the Philippines, etc.

Have you been dreaming about visiting Iceland? In this case, hurry up and book a hotel in Reykjavik and visit this hospitable country, moreover, it is safe to do this according to WTTC. The organization has recently added the following locations: Argentina, Colombia, Kazakhstan, Iceland, and Turks and Caicos. The stamp means that these destinations follow the global hygiene and safety protocols that are necessary during the pandemic.

The development of international safety and hygiene protocols required the cooperated work of the largest tourist groups in the world. More than 200 CEO’s welcomed these changes and the general attempts of WTTC to save the Travel & Tourism sector. As the stamp is getting more recognition, it helps destinations around the world to attract more visitors during this challenging time. Moreover, it is easier for hospitality companies to adopt ready safety protocols rather than think of developing their own.

The Icelandic Tourist Board reported the implementation of the Clean & Safe guidelines. These guidelines for tourism-related companies protect public health and show the country’s efforts to ensure safety for everyone. As people want to travel again in this challenging period, tourist companies must offer a safe and responsible environment for them. Global cooperation is a key to achieving success and saving the industry.

The return of Safe Travels is important not only for tourists. As WTTC mentions in its 2020 issue of the Economic Impact Report, one in every ten jobs in the world in 2019 was in Travel & Tourism, accounting for 330 million jobs worldwide. The sector is responsible for 10.3% of global GDP. Moreover, Travel & Tourism was one of the biggest job providers before the pandemic as 25% of all new jobs in the world were generated in this industry. This means that Travel & Tourism can be a crucial factor in the recovery of the global economy.
