Last week the W Hotel in Bangkok was officially opened. This property has become the second hotel by W in Thailand.
The W Bangkok features a stunning combination of modern design and old traditions. The building of the hotel consists of a large 31-storey glass tower combined with a historical building, the age of which is more than a century. Many years ago this building was used as the Russian embassy.
The hotel has 407 spacious guestrooms, which are mostly coloured in gold, magenta, and blue colors. The use of colors is different from floor to floor. Inside the guestrooms bedroom parts are separated from bathrooms by planks made of glass. Guests will be also delighted with such details as padded leather beds and chrome furniture.
The design of the new hotel was developed by a local architectural company named Soda. The designers tried to combine East and West in this project. They were inspired by modern technologies, but also wanted to use traditional motifs. As a result, guests will see gorgeous neon art installations decorated with traditional Thai patterns, and glass sculptures that are reminiscent of temples.
The Great Room is connected with W Lounge by a very interesting abstract spiral staircase decorated with gloss and jewels. The hotel’s all-day kitchen restaurant Kitchen Table also features an unusual design its walls remind of crocodile skins, and the concept of the restaurant’s design is based on Thai myths. Other facilities of the hotel include Woobar with signature cocktails and DJ music, a business center, a fitness center, and the Wet cafĂ© at the poolside.
