Seems, the plans of Jumeirah Group concerning the opening of an accommodation in Glasgow may not turn into reality. The problems have appeared on the side of the developer of the property, which has been recently put into administration.
Jumeirah is a Dubai-headquartered hotelier that specializes mostly on luxurious accommodations. The 26-storey 6 star hotel in Glasgow was scheduled to open already this year, but the building didn’t even start. The total cost of the project estimates £125m. The plan included the building of a 158-key hotel and 68 serviced apartments. The hotel’s facilities should have included a spa center, a business area and a large ballroom. The location of this project is also very advantageous – on the crossing of Robertson and Argyle Streets near SAS Radisson.
The developer of the project, BLN property Developers, has been put under administration. Jumeirah Group hasn’t made any comments concerning this situation and it is not clearly known whether the hotelier is still interested in this project.
However, reporters managed to ask some questions to the company and Jumeirah spokesman provided some information, which, unfortunately, concerned only the UK market in general. According to the hotelier’s representative, the company is very interested in the UK hotel market and plans to grow its presence in the region. Currently Jumeirah operates 2 hotels in London – Jumeirah Lowndes Hotel and Jumeirah Carlton Tower.
Jumeirah is mostly famous for its iconic hotel in Dubai located in Burj al-Arab tower.
