In 2014 Fairmont Hotels & Resorts will open a hotel in Taiyuan (located 500 km away from Beijing), the capital of the northern Chinese province Shanxi. This is going to be a 330-key luxurious hotel located on the bank of the Fen River. Guests of this accommodation will be able to walk to the business center of the city as it is located nearby.
The hotel is the part of the mixed-use development. In addition to the hotel the so called Sumeru project will feature luxurious accommodations, a chain of boutiques, and a private club. The developer of the hotel part is Shanxi Jun Lian Real Estate Development Co. Ltd., and Fairmont will act as a managing organization.
Fairmont hotel in Taiyuan will occupy upper floors of the building and will offer large selection of business facilities like a large 1,500 sq. m. ballroom and over 3,500 sq. ft. of function space. On the territory of the hotel will be also located a fitness center, a Willow Stream spa, and a swimming pool.
The president of Fairmont Chris Cahill mentions China is one of their key markets at the moment. The company is eager to set up its presence in all main and secondary cities of the country. Taiyuan is a rapidly developing city with great potential, so the hotelier wants to enhance its positions on the business travel market of the region.
Fairmont hotel in Taiyuan is going to become the ninth property by the hotelier in the region, either working or under development. The properties that already work are Fairmont hotel in Beijing, Fairmont hotel in Yangcheng Lake, Fairmont Singapore and Fairmont hotel in Shanghai. The hotels in the pipeline are Fairmont Nanjing (2012), Fairmont hotel in Jakarta (2014), and Fairmont Makati (2012).
