Steve Wynn has told The Business Times that he is “dying” to open a hotel in Singapore that will provide gaming services. However, most probably this is not going to happen until 2017 as at the moment the exclusive rights for gaming properties are granted to Las Vegas Sands Corp. Marina Bay Sands and Genting Group’s World and Sentosa. The rights are given on governmental level, so it’s unlikely for Wynn to intrude.
The licenses for gaming activities in Singapore were sold on an auction, however due to lack of time (time restrictions were quite severe) Wynn did not participate. At that time he was involved into opening of Wynn and Macau casino-hotels.
If Steve Wynn opens a hotel in Singapore, he plans the resort to become the cleverest hotel not only in the country, but in whole Asia in total.
For the purpose of the opening of the new hotel Wynn may team up with another famous person in the industry, Sheldon Adelson, who is the chairman of Las Vegas Sands. The two give very warm comments about each other in the recent months, so we can expect this to happen. Experts say these two may collaborate to work over legalization of Internet gambling in the US and over the expansion of their casinos because of exploring new markets.
