When people talk with European habitants it is not necessary to look point-blank at them, it can seem to be the sign of aggression. As for South Africans it is opposite situation again – wandering look is sign of unrespect, so it is necessary to look straight to eyes talking. Some gestures have their own meaning. It is not recommended to pass money or other things with left hand – it is the sign of unrespect.
This feature appeared owing to religious rules, in accordance with them left hand is evil. To show respect to someone you need to pass him anything with both your hands. It will be appropriate for presentation of gifts or dishes. During the walk it is possible to note that the local habitants talk with each other quite loudly. Some travelers can think that it is sign of bad manners, however it is just the part of the local culture.
It is believed if interlocutors talk quietly they will talk something bad about somebody. The local habitants are quite friendly to tourists, problems of racial differences are felt not as vastly as in other cities of SAR. Elementary rules of civility will be pledge of successful communication.
