The traditional cuisine of Cancun is not much different from the classic Mexican one. However, there are still several interesting differences. Traditional tortillas with various meat and vegetable fillings are also widespread here, as well as burritos and tacos. Corn flour is widely used in cooking all kinds of flatbread that are then served together with various dishes or filled with all kinds of ingredients.
For breakfast, local people prefer to eat Frito Pie Omelet that can contain different types of sausages and vegetables. This omelet is very puffy and airy because it is cooked in an oven. Revueltos scrambled eggs are a no less popular alternative of the traditional breakfast meal. This dish can also be cooked in dozens of different ways.
As a rule, foreign guests like to order Tamales. This dish is also made of corn flour. Local tamales are usually stuffed with different types of ground meat or vegetables, but there are also sweet Tamales with fruit and nuts. If you want to try local fast food, simply order Tortas that look like traditional hamburgers. Tasty flatbread is slit and then filled with meat, beans, tomatoes, avocado, and mayonnaise. It is possible to buy Tortas not only in local restaurants but also at numerous food carts that are present on all large streets of Cancun.
