There are no magnificent churches in Acapulco. However, it is worth noting that the temples here give a sense of peace and tranquility, and this is exactly what people come to church for. An interesting and unusual building from an architectural point of view is Capilla del Atardecer. The chapel was built in the style of Modern Art, and its peculiarity is that from here you can see the most beautiful sunsets in the night capital of Mexico: it looks as if the religious place was specially built for this purpose, although it might be like that. Ignoring the Museo Histórico de Acapulco Fuerte de San Diego would be simply cruel. The museum has long become a hallmark of the city and perfectly fulfils this task, I would say. The building was constructed in the 17th century to protect the city against attacks of pirates. It is peculiar for its form – it was erected in the shape of a five-pointed star. Having a great political and economic importance, today this place is probably the most significant historical monument of the region.
