By the amount of significant tourist objects the city of Padua trails only the majestic sea-born city of Venice. Padua is a large and impressive city which offers its guests various excursion programs fitting every taste, fancy and budget. A unique historical landmark is the Cathedral of Padua (Duomo di Padova). In the course of the long history of its existence the cathedral was twice destroyed to the root and rebuilt anew.
The last design of the religious building was managed by the famous artist Michelangelo, however his great plan failed to be realized and completed. The building of the cathedral was not completed that is why its current look is rather modest. In the neighborhood of the Cathedral tourists will find the ancient Baptistry which is remarkable for its inimitable inner decoration. Its walls are covered with ingenious paintings for eternal admiration of visitors.
The same interesting tourist object to visit and enjoy is the Scrovegni Chapel (Cappella degli Scrovegni) the main feature of which is majestic fresco paintings. The inestimable samples of pictorial art were created by Giotto. The world renowned master of frescos succeeded to execute the work in keeping to the best traditions of Renaissance epoch.
