Calabria has a well-developed public transportation system; you can move freely between resorts by bus or private car. Beach lovers have to consider that it would be more convenient to get to some secluded coastal areas by water than by land.
Calabria is visited by a huge number of tourists, so the staff of local hotels, restaurants, shops and entertainment venues is fluent in foreign languages. Locals are quite affable and hospitable and they are always ready to help tourists.
Tipping is common; tip is generally about 10% of the amount of services rendered. It is appropriate to leave a tip for the guide, taxi driver and a waiter in a restaurant; you can leave 1 euro for a maid at a hotel.
It’s rainy in Calabria from the beginning of October until the end of November; there is rainfall literally every day. Those are usually short-term showers, but it’s recommended to take an umbrella or a raincoat when going for a long walk.
