The real attraction of the island is its colorful markets, and one of the largest can be visited in the village of Antimachia. It is famous for a huge selection of souvenirs, as local artists and artisans sell their works in this market. There are also grocery rows - a huge selection of fresh seafood, vegetables and fruits, as well as wonderful homemade cheese and pastries are always available to visitors.
The village of Zia has another great souvenir market. People come here in search of handmade ceramics, elegant textiles, bright handmade rugs, and traditional souvenirs. In this market, visitors have access to a broad range of fresh products, as well as to lovely national restaurants. The most popular national delicacy among tourists is tomato jam.
There is a lively road between the capital of the island, the city of Kos, and Zipari, along which there are many popular shops. Here you can visit salons selling fur coats and other natural fur products, as well as several shops offering goods made of genuine leather. These goods are produced in local factories so sold at very attractive prices. There are also Chinese shops selling clothes and accessories, which are very popular with budget travelers.
