Corfu International Airport "Ioannis Kapodistrias” (or Kapodistrias International Airport) is a state airport that is located on the Greek island of Corfu and serves regular and charter flights. The airport suffers from the seasonal passenger influx during the tourist season. The airport was opened in 1937. During the Second World War, it was under the German and Italian Armed Forces and served as an air base for cargo and military aviation. After the war, it was modernized by an air-strip and then by the passenger terminal built afterwards. In 1965, the airport gained an international status. The short distance between the city and the airport lets cover it by car, taxi, transfer or bus for 10-15 minutes. At Kapodistrias Airport, you can rent a car. In the passenger terminal, there are stands of agencies representing leading international companies in this field: Avis, Alamo, Budget, Enterprise rent-a-car, Hertz, Thrifty, Sixt rent a car, as well as the office of Green Motion car and van rental.

Car rental companies’ stands are open only up to 18:00. If you book a car in advance, the car is provided when the client arrives at the airport or the hotel. The rental cost of these companies includes service fees, insurance, and taxes. Rented cars are taken in the parking lot near the terminal within working hours. Cars are returned to the same parking lot.

The airport also cooperated with the SurPrice Company, which representative meets the client in the terminal and accompanies him or her to the place where the client can form and get a car. Fire Fly Company offers a free transfer to the place where you can get a car.

Due to the peculiarities of the mountainous area and the difficulties with driving on spiral highways, the companies recommend to rent a self-drive car. Self-drive cars are more comfortable in mountainous terrain.

Near the terminal, there are spacious protected parking lots P1 and P2, from which you can access the check-in desk in the terminal. There are hourly and daily parking tariffs. Parking in the lot P1 is free if it does not exceed 20 minutes.

There are several hotels near the airport: Atlantis, Corfu Palace, Divani Corfu Palace, Aeolos Beach Resort, Ariti Grand hotel. All the hotels are situated 1-3 km from the territory of Corfu Airport.
