Airport location, terminals and transportation
Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport is a major airport in France, one of the largest airfields in Europe, and also is one of the ten main airports in the world. The passenger traffic makes up about 60 million people per year. It is situated not far from Paris. The airport got its name from the first head of the Fifth Republic.
You can get to the airport or leave it by public transport (by buses number 2 and 4) from the Eiffel Tower and Montparnasse. Roissybus express coach connects the central part of the city and CDG. Regular commuter trains connect CDG, the centre and the railway station. This line interesects with other directions of trains and city metro. Trains stop at «Aeroport Charles-de Gaulle 1» and «Aeroport Charles-de Gaulle 2-TGV» stations in the airport. You can get a taxi by requesting it in the offices of arrival halls or just by catching it in the parking lot.
Shuttles (number 1 and 2), running in the airport, carry passengers between terminals. And there is also a railway shuttle passing through all terminals and parking lots PR and PX.
Rental offices, how to find them, where to return car
Such large international companies as Advantage, Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Europcar, Firefly, Hertz, Interrent, National, Sixt, and TT Car Transit provide car hire services at CDG. The companies, engaged in this field, are operating throughout the whole arrival time.
You may rent a car in the arrival area of Terminal 1 (at the 4th level of Terminal 1) between Gates 24 and 30, just opposite the baggage claim area. You will find here 4 car rental offices. As to Terminal 2D, the offices will be opposite Gates 11 and 12, if you go out of the baggage claim areas. Besides, they are located at the arrival level of Terminal 2E in the outdoor parking, opposite Gate 2. You will see them when leaving the baggage claim area. The car rental offices are also situated at the arrival area of Terminal 2F, opposite Gate 2, to the right of the exit from the baggage claim area. In order to hire or get your vehicle, you should leave Terminal 3 and proceed to Terminal 1 or 2. The point is, Terminal 3 has no car rental offices.
You may get a car not only in the car parks of the airport terminals, but also at other car rental offices, which are abundant in the city. You can return a vehicle in such parking lots of Terminals 1 and 2 as Parking P1, Parking PR, and Parking PEF. Consult the signs of these parking lots, if necessary.
Long-term and short-term parking, hotels nearby
The airport comprises 10 parking lots. They are available round the clock and paid, though you can use the car parks free of charge for the first 10 minutes. There are open air and covered parking lots. It is recommended that you should book a parking place on the website of the airport in advance. There are vehicle size restrictions. Separate parking zones are meant for motorcycles. Parking spots for people with disabilities are also provided.
Numerous hotels of different categories are located not only on the territory of Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport for transit passengers, but also on the surrounding area. Sheraton hotel and YotelAir hotel are within the Terminal 2. Kyriad Prestige, Ibis, Novotel, Sofitel, Hilton are situatied between Terminals 2 and 3.
