Airport location, terminals and transportation
Copenhagen Airport, Kastrup (Kastrup Airport) is the main airport in Denmark and a large international airline hub both among Scandinavian and European airports. The unofficial name – Kastrup Airport – derives from the name of the city where it was built. The airport was built in 1925 and was originally meant for civil aviation. CPH handles over 30 million passengers a year. About 95% of all flights are international. The airport is located on an island that is 8 km away from Copenhagen. The airport complex consists of two terminals (T2, T3) and three runways.
Free transfer vehicles circulate around the airport connecting two terminals, parking lots, and bus stops. A Copenhagen railway station can be reached by train. There’s a train station on the bottom level of T3. Apart from regional routes, a couple of Swiss and German cities can be reached by train. To go to the city centre, you can use city metro (Line 2). The following bus routes are available at the airport: 5C, 35, 36, 999, 888. A couple of buses go to Sweden and Norway.
Rental offices, how to find them, where to return car
Several car rental companies work at the airport: Avis, Sixt, Europcar, Hertz, Budget, Enterprise. The companies’ offices are situated in the consolidated Car Rental Centre located to the west of Terminal 2. To get to the Car Rental Centre, you should leave the terminal and use free transfer – vehicles depart every 10 minutes. It takes a couple minutes to reach the centre from any of the terminals.
Rental cars are returned to the rental centre at the airport or another car rental centre if it’s mentioned in the agreement. The keys are returned to a representative of the company.
The rental offices are open from 7 am till 10-11 pm. A vehicle can be booked in advance on the official website of the chosen agency, in the airport office, by phone or via email mentioned on the airport website.
Long-term and short-term parking, hotels nearby
There are 8,600 parking spaces at the airport. The parking complex consists of budget parking lots P15, P17, P19 (served with free transfer), standard lots P9, P11, P12, P5, P10 (within walking distance from the terminals; there are roofed and open-air spaces), premium parking lots P4, P6, P7, P8 (roofed parking lots near the check-in area), short-term parking lots P4, P6. Short-term parking lots (P4, P7, P8) offer free parking for 15 minutes.
The Clarion hotel is situated on the territory of the airport and provides a range of services: accommodation, conference halls, etc. The following hotels are situated near the airport: Hotel Ocean, Quality Airport Hotel Dan.
