It is considered the primary international air hub of Melbourne, and is the second busiest airport in Australia in terms of passenger traffic. This airfield services 34 million people per year. The airport was built in 1970 in the suburb of Tullamarine, from which its second name is derived. Melbourne Airport features flights throughout Australia as well as to Asia, Oceania, Africa, Europe and North America. A large number of both export and import cargoes are transported through this aviation hub. The air terminal serves passengers in four terminals, three of which are domestic and one is international.
One can get from the airport to the city of Melbourne by car, SkyBus City Express or buses of other companies. Scheduled buses depart from the airport to various localities. The taxi stand is placed next to the terminals. The airport offers helicopter transfers to various destinations.
Rental offices, how to find them, where to return car
Several representative offices of car rental companies operate at Melbourne Airport. These are the offices of Avis, Budget, Europcar, Enterprise (or Redspot), Hertz, and Thrifty. The vehicles of these companies can be booked in advance through the website of the airport. The car rental facilities are located on the ground floor of the parking facility of Terminals 1, 2 and 3. The rental cars are returned to the parking lot at the airport, if another location has not been specified in the rental agreement. If supplementary equipment is booked, it is paid separately. The rental cost includes the airport surcharge, local taxes and the service tax. The insurance in case of theft or damage is not included in the rental cost and is paid separately. Car rental conditions do not include limited mileage.
