The founder of the city William Penn was going to create there a colony, where would be no injustice and abjection. He wanted to turn this place into the city of religious freedom. Lots of people, who were persecuted, joined him. So this way Philadelphia was created. In the Greek its name means 'brotherly love'.
From 1790 to 1800 Philadelphia serves as the capital of the country.

The most famous of them are the National Park, the Liberty Bell and of course the Independence Hall. The last one became the place, where in 1776 they signed the Declaration of Independence. Another interesting place is the Constitution Centre, devoted to the Constitution of the United States.
