The city bans smoking in public areas that is why tourists should pay attention to special signs. As a rule in close vicinity to governmental institutions and public establishments there are designated smoking areas meanwhile restaurants feature smoking parlors.
Despite the fact Nerja is considered to be a peace and quiet city the travelers should stay cautious and be extremely careful. At night one should not set off to the remote areas of the city. Setting off to a tour or a walk one should not keep by oneself substantial sums of cash and documents.
Many shops work every day except Sunday. Commonly they are open form 10am till 8pm. A lunch break is possible within the day. Usually it lasts not more than two hours. Large supermarkets and shopping centers work seven days a week without lunch breaks.
Despite the fact that tips are not customary, a taxi driver, a waiter in the restaurant should be cash rewarded. A 5 – 10% will be quite enough.
