Haarlem has more than a 900-year history. So every year plenty of tourists come here to look at the marvelous buildings of the Middle Age, the City Hall, built in the 13th century, and of course to visit the Teylers Museum, which is considered to be the oldest one in the country. It tells us about ancient technologies and displays some painting by Dutch authors.
At the Grote Markt (the main square in Haarlem) on Monday and Saturday they organize fairs, where one can find almost everything in the world. But mainly people bargain there some plants, textiles, tasty food and of course herring. Another places that are worth visiting are the magnificent St Bavo Church, the Nieuwe Kerk and the Frans Hals Museum.
So you may see that Haarlem is a fantastically interesting city and the best to learn more about it is to stay here for a week or two.
