An interesting place for hiking is an ancient town of San Remo; its attractions include the beautiful Russian Orthodox Church. It was built in the early 20th century and was preserved in its original form; several beautiful buildings of the 19th century have survived too.
Portofino can boast a very interesting medieval monument, Castello Brown fortress. It is impressive and features the great interior decoration. Travelers can stroll through the spacious halls of the fortress and admire its beautiful frescoes, some of which were painted by Giulio De Rossi and Raffaelino. The town of La Spezia is the seat of an important religious monument, the Church of St. Peter. The church is located in a rather unusual rocky terrain; at first glance it may seem that it literally grows out of the rock.
The largest religious building in the province is located in Imperia. Duomo di San Maurizio is a true sample of the local architecture. However, there are other architectural monuments in Imperia, like Palazzo Doria. Those who won’t be enough of these attractions are recommended to visit the ancient town of Sestri Levante famous due to its beautiful churches.
