Dundee, Scotland, is an emerging destination that attracts both travelers and investors, so no wonder why more and more hotels appear there. Hotel Indigo is no exception, and so this hotelier now has a property operating and ready to serve new guests.
Dundee is the first city in the UK that got the UNESCO City of Design status. Soon the beautiful city will get one more notable landmark V&A Dundee or the first museum dedicated to design in Scotland. Needless to say that this fact will make the Scottish city even a more attractive destination for everyone interested in culture and arts. Even without this city, Dundee has much to offer to travelers, including numerous museums and theatres, galleries and modern shopping centers. Of course, many know Dundee as an internationally famous golf destination renowned for golf courses like St Andrews. Some of the most notable cultural landmarks include the Dundee Contemporary Arts Centre, the Sensation Science Centre, and the Dundee Rep Theater.
The new hotel in Dundee branded by Indigo is located in a former jute mill that was built more than two centuries ago. The Hotel Indigo Dundee has 102 guest rooms. Located near the waterfront, the hotel enjoys a prime located in the central part of the shopping district. The building of the accommodation has a rich history. The first mill appeared on this site in 1822. It was built by the Baxter family, the largest linen manufacturers of that time. The mill was renovated a number of times, eventually turning into a hotel. Visitors to Hotel Indigo Dundee can see traces of the building’s past in the hotel’s design.
The new hotel has three special themed rooms. The Dundee Cake room has jute curtains and was inspired by marmalade. The Comic Room is inspired by the Black Bob comic series published by DC Thompson. This comic is dedicated to a sheepdog that saves people. Finally, the Gaming Room embraces Dundee’s game industry and reminds visitors that the city is the birthplace of Grand Theft Auto. The hotel’s dining venue, Daisy Tasker, offers modern versions of traditional Scottish dishes, seafood, and locally sourced products. The restaurant is named after a famous weaver who was famous for her social and organizational skills. The hotelier hopes that this restaurant will be perfectly suitable for friends and family to relax and eat together.
All Indigo properties are inspired by the neighborhoods, in which they are located, so there are no two identical hotels in the world. Currently, there are 27 Hotel Indigo properties operating in Europe, and 17 more hotels are set to open in the next three to five years.
