Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts has recently opened its first hotel in Istanbul. Shangri-La Bosphorus is located on the European side of Bosphorus Strait.
The 186 guestroom hotel occupies the building of a former tobacco warehouse. Finished in 1930s, the building is a wonderful example of neoclassical style. Moreover, in the hotel’s yard there are two old Sycamore trees, 150 and 350 years respectively.
The interior design of the hotel is mostly inspired by Dolmabahce Palace that is located nearby. Guests of the hotel may be pleased with elegant mix of European, Turkish and Asian features in design. Guestrooms are mostly made in various shades of cream and teal. The square of guestrooms ranges from 452 to 646 sq. ft. (42-60 sq. m.). The majority of guestrooms feature beautiful panoramic views of the Bosphorus. All bathrooms are decorated with Turkish marble and have heated floors. Shangri-La Bosphorus also has 17 suites, and almost all of them have private terraces with beautiful views of the Bosphorus.
The hotel has its own art collection with almost 1000 pieces exhibited. One of the most interesting items is a Bosphorus water scene made in Chinese lacquered carving style. You will find it behind the reception desk. The lobby lounge is a place where guests will be able to try more than 100 Chinese tea types and pastries. Le Bar offers various cocktails, mezzes, tapas, and spirits. Dining facilities are represented by IST TOO restaurant serving international cuisine and Shang Place that serves traditional Chinese dishes. Finally, the hotel’s spa, Chi, includes hammam, whirlpool, steam rooms, and an indoor pool.
