Hyatt Opens its New Hotel in Seoul
Hyatt has announced the opening of the first Hyatt Place hotel in Seoul. It will also become the first Hyatt Place hotel in Northeast Asia.
The opening of the new hotel has become possible thanks to the agreement with KY Development Co., Ltd. This is a local manufacturing and distribution company. Hyatt Place is an upscale select service brand of the hotelier that is currently not present either in the South Korea or in Northeast Asia. After its opening in 2013, the hotel will occupy an honorable place together with other three hotels by Hyatt in Seoul – Grand Hyatt Seoul, Park Hyatt Seoul, and Hyatt Regency Incheon.
It is already known that the hotel will be located in Dongdaemun district of Seoul, a famous shopping destination of the South Korea’s capital and a popular tourist destination. The new hotel will have 204 guestrooms, a restaurant, a bar, a fitness center, as well as business and meeting facilities. Hyatt plans to make this hotel attractive for both business and leisure travelers.
The senior vice president of Asia Pacific region in Hyatt Hotels & Resorts, Ratnesh Verma, commented the new deal telling it was a proof of their undoubted belief in the development of the South Korea’s economy. Together with Hyatt Place, Hyatt Hotels has hotels of different level and for different target auditories. The new hotel in Dongdaemun is likely to become very popular with tourists, as near it KY Development is building a fashion plaza, a multi-use park, and a huge underground mall. The zone is called Dongdaemun Design Plaza & Park, and it is expected to open in March 2014. Once open, Dongdaemun Design Plaza & park will become one of the largest fashion hubs in the whole country.
Hyatt is currently aggressively developing its network of hotels around the world. In March 2013, the company’s pipeline estimated 200 hotels around the world.
