Hyatt has recently opened its first hotel in the Netherlands – Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht. Opened in the building of the former Public Library of Amsterdam, the hotel features 117 spacious guestrooms and 5 suites.
Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht has 15 types of different rooms. In order to make the design of the hotel’s rooms more diversified, they were decorated by drawings of local designer Marcel Wanders. He added wall drawings that are based on Dutch heritage, such as tulips, or drawings made in Delft blue or orange colours. The main aim of the designer team was to make comfortable and functional space. Therefore, guestrooms are made in light colours and have an open layout that allows maximizing space. Inside guestrooms visitors will find reading chairs, book-shaped desks, and large walk-in closets. The hotel’s bathrooms are also open. They have a closed shower and a toilet, multi-functional vanity centrepieces, and washbasins, which have been painted in Delft Blue colour.
There is a lobby area on the sixth floor, where visitors will be amazed by a beautiful ceiling decorated with stars. Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht has its own collection of art that includes 40 videos by Erwin Olaf, Ryan Gander, and Mark Titchner. These videos are displayed on the ground floor and throughout the hotel. Guests can also watch these videos if they turn on a special video channel that is available in all guestrooms.
Dining facilities are represented by Bluespoon Restaurant that offers mostly seasonal food. Here guests will be delighted with natural farm-to-table food and herbs from the garden of Chef Julien Piguet. The majority of ingredients used are from the northern part of the Netherlands or the northern coast of France. Guests can also enjoy the view of the open kitchen while waiting for their dish to be prepared. The Bluespoon Bar offers various beverages and some bar food. Other facilities include an event space of 400 sq. m, a spa centre, a 24h gym, a repair shop, and a bicycle rental.
