All visitors of the Chedi Club Tanah Gajah Ubud are welcome not only to have rest, but also to enjoy magnificent Batuan art and learn the techniques of drawing under the guidance of art expert Bruce Granquist.
Special “Art Afternoons” will be held at least once a month. Here attendants will learn about the history and development of traditional art of the region – Batuan school. Guests will learn about traditional Balinese culture and will see how daily life is reflected in various forms of art. The cost of one lesson will be approximately US$21 and it will last one hour. Lessons start at introductory level, so visitors are not required to have any background to participate in them. These art classes have appeared as a part of Explore in Style package developed by GHM. According to creators, these lessons will help tourists understand customs and traditions of the local people.
The host of these lessons is Chedi Club Tanah Gajah Ubud, a luxury 20 villa resort that was initially built as a private retreat of Hendra Hadiprana – a famous Indonesian architect who is also known as the owner of one of the largest collections of art in the country. The territory of hotel in Bali is 5 hectares, and a part of that land is used to house approximately 100 paintings and sculptures collected by Hadiprana, as well as ponds and gardens made in traditional Balinese style.
