About a week ago were unveiled plans concerning the creation of a “world class” hotel in the main transport hub of Edinburg, its international airport.
The total cost of the project estimates £300m. This sum includes the transformation of 85 hectares of the land between the airport and RBS headquarters into a modern center of rest and entertainment. The complex will contain not only hotel rooms, but also a business center, and arena, and various conference facilities. It is also told that this project can bring as much as £4.4 billion to the economy of Scotland. Moreover, such a large-scale project will create 3,600 new jobs within 20 years.
The plan about the development of the territory is yet at the stage of creation. It is also told that the western part of Edinburg is currently underdeveloped, but has large potential due to its proximity to the airport.
Edinburg Airport has been fully opened recently. The property underwent a large development that lasted 10 years and cost £40 million.
The scale of the new project, which is approved by the Scottish government, will heavily depend on the volume of investments. The local government has already noticed it won’t provide investments for the building of a hotel in Edinburg airport. For now it is only known that the Royal Highland Showground will build 2 hotels in that region.
