One of the most famous and recognizable natural attractions in the United States is Mount Washington located in the northeastern part of the country. The height of the mountain is only 1 917 meters. It may seem very easy for experienced climbers. In fact, even staying in the foothill areas poses a mortal threat, not to mention the attempts to conquer the mountain. The area, where Mount Washington is situated, is the windiest place on earth. The weather is very changeable, and the wind blows heavily all year round.
The current record of the wind speed was documented by researchers in 1934, when it reached 372 km/h in the mountainous region. The foothill of Mount Washington is especially dangerous in winter, as this time of year blizzards happen here almost every day. At the foot of the mountain, there is the meteorological station that is considered one of the most extreme on the planet. The station building can withstand winds up to 500 km/h. The research complex is equipped with special devices that are resistant to various climate changes.
