One of the oldest tourist centers of Tunisia, this city was founded more than five centuries ago. It began attracting travelers actively in the beginning of the 20th century. The city's name is translated as "place for swimming". Indeed, there are so many beaches and secluded coves here. During the archeological excavations here have been uncovered the ruins of ancient villas and swimming pools built by the noble Romans.

They offer a large selection of national dishes. International Cultural Centre is another remarkable place. This is an open theater that reminds of an ancient Greek arena. Here often take place different musical concerts, theatrical performances and festivals. In addition to this Hammamet is rich in numerous entertainment centers, cinemas and nightclubs.
