Many towns and communities in the Aosta Valley are worth visiting as these are amazing places for tourists who seek authenticity and national heritage. La Thuile is one of such towns. The distance to the city of Aosta is 31 kilometer. La Thuile is a charming and authentic Italian village. It is interesting to visit both in winter and summer. Tourists will be able to see the traditional houses of the region – made from wood and stone, these houses have the “perdre” flagstones. Houses of this type cannot be seen outside the Aosta Valley.
In 2009, La Thuile got the honorable title the “Town of Chocolate” as locals love this dessert. Fans of outdoor recreation, cycling, and trekking will find much fun in this area. They are welcome to explore the old coil mining trail. The length of walks ranges from 30 minutes to 4 hours. It’s a great place to see beautiful underground tunnels, ruins, and old huts of miners. Local hiking trails also include a popular route to the Ruitor glacier and trails with lesser altitude like the San Carlo pass. Fans of cycling will be fond of La Thuile Bike Zone. There are trails of different length and level – downhill, cross-country and enduro routes.
