Car Rentals in Honolulu

It is still not known for sure when the first Polynesians reached the south-eastern region called today Honolulu, we can judge by some historic facts that it happened somewhere in the 12th century.

Actually, Honolulu is a harbor, which is rather calm and deepwater. The name of the city is translated as 'protected bay' that totally reflects its geographical position. When British Captain James Cook was sailing in the region of Honolulu (then Oahu) he moved by the bay and a small village without noticing them, thus he is considered to be the discoverer of Hawaii for the Western world in 1778, but he didn't take his chance with Oahu.

Car Parking Info

Parking is available in the multi-level garage, which can be accessed directly from the Main Terminal, and also in open car parks located near to all lobbies. The first 30 minutes of parking are free. Further information is available from AMPCO System Parking (tel: 808 861 1260).

Driving by car from/to Honolulu

From Waikiki, drive to the end of the main Kalakaua Avenue and turn left just before the Honolulu Zoo onto Kapahulu Avenue. Follow Kapahulu Avenue to the end, where it merges into the H-1 freeway. Take the H-1 westbound and follow signs to the airport.
