Money withdrawal and Communication facilities: Services include a post office in Terminal 2 Arrivals, as well as banks in both terminals (Departures), with ATMs and bureaux de change. Stamp and phone card machines are available in Terminal 1 Departures Areas B and C. Cafe and restaurants: Restaurants, bars, fast-food outlets, snack bars and cafés are located in both terminals, in the Departures and Arrivals areas; the buffet-bars in Terminal 2 Arrivals and Departures are open 24 hours. Shopping facilities: There are duty-free shops in both terminals Departures and in Terminal 1 Arrivals, as well as various other shops in both Terminals, including a supermarket and delicatessen in Terminal 2 Arrivals. Luggage services: Left-luggage and a lost property office are situated adjacent to Terminal 2 Arrivals. Other services: There is a travel centre in Terminal 2 and a hairdresser in Terminal 1 Arrivals. A first aid facility is situated in Terminal 1 Arrivals.

Car Parking Info

There are two long-term multi-storey car parks (car parks P2 and P3) at the airport; P2 is situated in front of Terminal 2. A short-term/medium-term multi-storey car park P1 is situated in front of Terminal 1 and a car park, P-Nord, between car parks P2 and P3, is next to Terminal 2. There is a shuttle bus from car park P3 to the terminals, running 24 hours. There are disabled spaces and parking for women in car park P2; reservations can be made for women drivers and for security-monitored exclusive spaces (tel: (0)2203 402 116).

Driving by car from/to Cologne

Cologne is a European motorway network hub and the city is encircled by a closed motorway ring. The airport itself was designed as a drive-in airport and a motorway spur runs right up to the terminals, linking Cologne/Bonn directly with the German motorway network and Europe. Hwy-A59 leads directly to the airport.

Public Transportation from/to Cologne

By Railway: S-Bahn trains run from the airport railway station, which is situated between Terminals 1 and 2, to Cologne Hauptbahnhof (central station) and other destinations in the city. How to reach: By Taxi: Taxis are readily available outside Terminals 1 and 2; a taxi from the airport to either Bonn or Cologne city centre takes around 15 minutes. By Bus: Airport shuttles are available to/from Cologne (journey time: 20 minutes) and Bonn (journey time: 35 minutes). There is also a service to Düsseldorf central station (journey time: 60 minutes) from Terminal 2.

Cologne is a city with long and interesting history. It was founded by the Roman and first mentioning about it dates back to 50 B.C. In the Middle Ages population of this oldest city in Germany was about 40000 people. This city could offer university studies, freedom of trade and well-educated citizen to talk with; all these gave grounds to put this city in the list of the richest and most powerful European cities of those times. During the Second World War the centre of Cologne was destroyed for 90%, 72% of its territory was under bombing. When the war finished those few historical places that remained untouched were tediously restored. Their reconstruction was a true success. Most of the historical places are also rebuilt now and make the city very attractive and fascinating.
