The British resort city of Dorset is to get a major facelift. It was reported that a new project worth £250 million has been approved for the city. The redevelopment project will be located on the exclusive Sandbanks peninsula. In order to free space for the new complex, developers plan to demolish buildings on three sites and then combine the sites to get enough space for a new hotel, premium flats and apartments for holidays.
According to the project plans, the Haven Hotel, which enjoys magnificent location at Poole Harbor, will be replaced with four blocks with flats. The 196 flats complex will also include a restaurant. The Haven Hotel is a historic building that was constructed in 1927. The building has a steel frame and it’s too worn out to restore it. The second building, Harbour Heights Hotel, which is located on Heaven Road near the start of the mainland, will be also demolished and a complex with 40 apartments will be built there. Finally, Sandbanks Hotel that is located on the other part of the peninsula will be turned into a 175-key hotel. According to engineers, the three buildings on the 1.5 mile-long peninsula have structures that come to the end of their commercial life, so the buildings need to be demolished.
A part of the required funds is expected to be raised from selling flats and apartments. The developer promises an affordable price tag for the new flats that will cost less than similar properties in Sandbanks available for sale. The building of the new hotel would consume a lot of money, approximately £80 million, so the developer needs funding to complete the project.
Sandbanks is one of the most expensive neighborhoods in the whole United Kingdom, chosen as a living place by many famous people.
