Westin Hotels & Resorts has launched a new program aimed at improving the quality of sleep of hotel guests. This time the famous hotelier partnered with the World Sleep Society. The companies encourage people to share their “best rest” pictures on Instagram and use the special #SleepStrong hashtag with them.
According to Westin, they started this campaign to remind hotel guests that it’s important to have a good sleep at night. The modern “always on” culture is a real problem to healthy sleep. As a part of the new program, Westin offers a new complimentary bedside amenity Sleep Well Lavender Balm infused with chamomile and lavender essential oils. More than a half of people sleep several hours less while away from home, so the hotelier tries to remind people that strong sleep affects well-being and overall happiness.
In April, Westin also tests a new “Bedtime Call” option for its guests. It’s similar to the “Wakeup call”, but this time hotel guests are notified when they should go to sleep based on the indicated time when they need to up in the morning. The length of sleep is determined based on recommendations by World Sleep Society. The idea of a bedtime call first appeared at the Westin hotel in New York. The hotel’s general manager noticed that both business and leisure travelers experienced a noticeable lack of sleep. The hotel’s staff was often getting wakeup call requests at the time when it absolutely impossible for hotel guests to enjoy a healthy sleep, so they decided that a simple reminder to go to sleep can help customers to feel more energetic.
