Four Seasons Launches Wristband Room Access
Wearable technology has become a hot trend these days. Giant companies like Google or Apple offer new gadgets that immediately get an army of fans. Google Glass, Fitbit, smart watches – new devices are added to the list every month. Naturally, hoteliers keep an eye on what’s popular these days and try to offer their clients cool items that will make their stay more pleasant.
Four Seasons has launched a new service that will allow guests to use special wristbands that are also keys to their guestrooms. The project has debuted at Four Seasons resort in Lana’i, but later the company plans to spread it to other hotels. Upon check-in guests get a special RFID wristband that they are welcome to use during their stay. In resorts, guests usually feel relaxed and are more prone to losing their guestroom keys. Moreover, such activities as snorkelling, surfing or scuba diving are not very convenient with the key as well. With the wristband key guests can just wear it and simply enjoy their stay at the resort. During the first stage of the project, the wristband can only be used to unlock the door, but later the hotel plans to add payments in restaurants and café, spa and even in retail shops, making all purchases fast and simple. The wristband can be worn while diving or swimming, so guests don’t need to worry it will be broken and can just enjoy their time.
