Ashford Castle, a tremendously beautiful castle-hotel in Ireland, has recently changed its owner. The 83-guestroom hotel in Cong is now owned by the Red Carnation Hotel Collection. Supposedly, the total sum of the deal was €20 million (approximately US$25 million).
According to the data published in the Irish Times, the hotel was finally purchased after being under the receivership during 18 months. The deal can be called quite beneficial for the new owner as the previous owner of the hotel, Gerry Barrett, paid €50 million to buy Ashford Castle. This is a luxury hotel with the price of guestrooms ranging from €415 to €950. Most probably, the new owner will leave the average daily rate at the same level. Red Carnation has already shared its plans concerning the refurbishment of the property. The company will invest additional funds into renovation of the castle, will upgrade its technology, and will fully remake the hotel’s spa and wellness center. It is also known that the company will keep the existing management team. The new owner also plans to collaborate with local suppliers only over the refurbishment plan in order to maintain authenticity of the castle.
Ashford Castle is included in the list of The Leading Hotels of the World. The hotel includes drawing and dining rooms, a spa center, a bar, private dining rooms, and even a 9-hole golf course.
