Hotel de Crillon in Paris announced the beginning of collaboration with Karl Lagerfeld, world famous designer. He will redesign two suites of the iconic hotel. The hotel, which was built in 1758, is currently under restoration and is expected to open in 2015.
Karl Lagerfeld is not only an icon in the world of fashion and photography, but also a big connoisseur of the 18th century. He will use this knowledge to make two of the hotel’s most prestigious suites. These suites will be known as “great apartments”.
Commenting the new collaboration, the president of Rosewood Hotels & Resorts (the company that manages Hotel de Crillon) Radha Arora expressed their delight with the appointment. The main philosophy of the brand and of this hotel is “a sense of place”, and it is hard to imagine a person who knows Paris better than Lagerfeld, who has been designing clothes and accessories for Chanel for centuries.
As it has been mentioned before, all restoration works are expected to be finished in 2015. The hotel will keep its original look and feel, but it will be polished and made more up-to-date according to requirements of modern travellers. The restoration project was made by architect Richard Martinet, while interiors were developed by Paris decorators Chahan Minassian, Tristan Auer, and Cyril Vergniol.
