Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts reported its new food truck service has become a real success. The FS Taste Truck debuted in the US last year. Initially it was planned to use trucks for one season only, but because of high demand trucks will be returned to hotels.
In 2013, the truck covered the distance of 1609km. During its ride the truck stopped in eight different destinations. During these stays visitors could have a dinner there and enjoy various dishes. In total, more than 7000 diners attended the FS Taste Truck. The truck offered different menus with an average dish costing around US$7.25. The most popular dishes included short ribs with smoked mozzarella, salsa verde; kalbi short rib with kimchi, radish, green onion, and molcajete salsa; green chile stew.
A part of proceeds from dishes sold was donated to a charity organization Chefs to End Hunger. This charity works directly with hotels, foodservice organizations, and restaurants, and helps to redistribute food to homeless people and people in need.
Commenting the food truck initiative, Four Seasons mentioned they hadn’t expected such a success. Visitors were amazed by street-style food offered by professional chefs. Food truck was a perfect choice of vehicle, and the company will definitely repeat the initiative again this year.
