Morgan Hotel Group has announced the new contract with SWR, a large UK-based waste management company. SWR will manage all waste produced by two boutique hotels by Morgan Hotel Group including the famous St Martins Lane hotel in London. This is done with one aim – to increase the recycling levels of both properties. Current recycling level for the two hotels is 26%, and Morgan plans to increase it to 80%. The second responsibility of SWK will be finding new ways of disposal and reducing the total cost of waste management.
According to Ralf Albus, the regional financial controller of St Martins Lane, they already have been segregating the hotel’s food waste, but this is definitely not enough. SWR will need to find new approach to recycling and the company has made its first steps by changing waste collection areas and making waste segregation more sophisticated. The company has also reviewed the list of the hotel’s suppliers and suggested several ways of making the hotel’s operation more streamlined. According to the financial controller, they already see positive results and hope for further improvement.
