Hurun Report has recently published information about most important factors that wealthy Chinese travelers take into consideration when selecting a hotel to stay. According to the report, the most significant factors are brand, location and service.
Chinese Luxury Consumer Survey 2013 report indicates that Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts is the most preferred brand among rich Chinese individuals. The second place is occupied by Hilton Hotels & Resorts, followed by The Peninsula Hotels, Grand Hyatt Hotels, Sheraton & Resorts, The Ritz Carlton Hotel Co., Park Hyatt, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, and, finally, Four Seasons Hotels.
The survey also mentions the most popular domestic and international destinations for Chinese travelers. So, Sanya, Hong Kong, Yunnan, and Tibet remain the most popular Chinese destinations. They are followed by Hangzhou, Xinjiang, Macau, Xiamen, Sichuan, and Qingdao. France remains the most popular international destination for wealthy Chinese travelers. The U.S. and Singapore occupy the second and third place respectively. They are followed by Switzerland, the U.K., Italy, Australia, Dubai (the UAE), Germany, Maldives, Japan and Canada.
Hurun Report has also defined one very interesting peculiarity Chinese travelers prefer booking hotels using their domestic travel agencies and booking websites. In average, wealthy Chinese people spend 7.5 days a month travelling, but these are mostly business related journeys, while the average length of leisure travel estimates 10-20 days a year.
