The Queen Elizabeth 2, an ocean liner known for its size and beauty, will soon make its last ride the ship will reach China, where it will be turned into a floating hotel. Currently, the Queen Elizabeth 2 is docked in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Once the ship reaches China, it will undergo a series of restoration works, and 400 guestrooms will be made in it.
The owner of the ship hasn’t changed it is Istithmar World, a subsidiary of the state owned company named Dubai World. Initially, it was planned to convert the vessel into a hotel in the UAE. However, the project did not find much support, and soon it was decided to bring the QE2 to China, where it may attract local leisure tourists who seek something new. It was reported that both local and foreign investors will participate in the project.
The total cost of renovation works will exceed US$90 million. It is expected to finish all works and open the Queen Elizabeth 2 as a hotel already in 2014. Even though the ship is to be transferred to China this autumn, it is not clearly known whether China is the final destination of the unusual hotel.
