GHM (General Hotel Management) has announced it will finally enter the hotel market of India in 2013. The company has signed an agreement with the local developer Kohinoor Group. According to the agreement, GHM will manage the newly built 42-guestroom hotel in Mumbai. Besides this property, in 2015 GHM will open one more hotel in the country. This will be The Chedi Qutub hotel in New Delhi with 45 guestrooms.
The Aayu Mumbai is to greet its first guests in the end of the next year. The hotel will be located in the top five floors of the 50-story Central Tower that is currently being built by Kohinoor. The tower faces beautiful Shivaji Park and its windows feature fantastic looks of the Arabian Sea in the west.
The inner design of the hotel is the result of work of Jaya Ibrahim. This is not the first collaboration of Ibrahim and GHM, as they partnered on The Nam Hai, The Chedi Muscat, and The Legian Bali. The designer will design all the spaces of the hotel, including all of its guestrooms, the size of which ranges from 65 to 155 sq. m.
The cuisine in the hotel will be the result of work of Chef Joël Robuchon, who will open his eighth L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon restaurant. The restaurant will offer artistic cuisine, and will also include a pastry shop, a tea lounge, and a rich collection of wines. The Aayu will also have a restaurant dedicated to Japanese cuisine. This restaurant is developed by Hide Yamamoto, a Japanese restaurateur. This restaurant will feature sushi and sake counter, a homemade ramen noodle bar, and a traditional charcoal Robata frill.
Other facilities in the territory of the hotel include a cigar and cognac lounge, a library lounge, a bar, and a malt bar. All of them will be located on the 49th floor of the building. The hotel will not have a spa center, instead of this spa treatments will be offered directly in the hotel’s guestrooms. The latest, 50th floor of the building, will feature a rooftop terrace with a swimming pool, an observation deck, and even a garden.
