On March 27, Mariott Hotel Group, running a network of hotels in St. Petersburg, Russia, will take part in an environmentalist event called Earth Hour. On that day, at 08:30 p. m. Moscow Time, the luxury hotel 102-room Renaissance St.-Petersburg Baltic and the 214-room Courtyard Mariott St.-Petersburg Vasilyevsky Hotel will be dimming lights in community areas for an hour, during which they will be using essential candle light instead. They will leave only emergency lighting on for safety reasons.
Created by World Wildlife Fund, Earth Hour has been held annually for four years every last Saturday in March. The goal of this event is to raise public awareness of global climate change. Mariott International Company notes gladly that hotel guests supported the initiative last year. This time we are calling upon our guests to join the event and have candle lit dinners.
Mariott International is a socially responsible company committed to numerous environment protection programs. So called Green program suggests repeated use of towels and bedroom items throughout the entire hotel network. Guests are offered to change linen and towels less frequently to reduce water consumption on the planet.
