Seems, soon hotels will have to make new menus for their restaurants. The new study conducted by foodservice consultancy Technomic, Chicago, shows that vast majority of restaurant users (65%) want restaurants to make nutrition labelling in their menus. Visitors are particularly concerned about calories and sodium content.
70% of consumers say they dislike the fact that chain restaurants hide information about calories and other nutritional data. 68% of respondents think that all restaurants, not only restaurant chains, should include nutritional information in their menus. Almost 70% of people say that nutrition facts will help them to make better choices as this information is important for health, and they also feel more respect for restaurants that have nutrition information included in their menus.
Almost a half of respondents think that government should be more active in this situation, and should regulate nutrition and health in restaurants. Will this study have any impact on government and restaurants? Currently, there is no information on this subject, but many restaurants are likely to adjust their menus and reveal the long disclosed information.
