Recently the International Hotel, Motel + Restaurant Show (IHMRS) has announced the winners of its Gold Key Awards for Excellence in Hospitality Design. The annual award was organized for the 32nd time this year. This time as many as 200 hotels from 23 countries fought for the right to receive the prestigious award. All the hotels were opened or renovated within 18 months and feature innovative design and great hospitality experience. The main sponsors of the award are Hotels and Hospitality Style magazines.
So, the winner in the category Best Guestroom is Dream Hotel South Beach (Miami Beach). The best design of a guestroom of a midscale/upscale hotel is Melia Atlanta. Chongqing Mountain & City hotel in Chongqing, China, won the award for its lobby/reception zone.
Do you want to see the best newly opened bar? They you should definitely visit W Lounge at W Paris - Opera (Paris). The best restaurant in the category of casual dining is Alma Maria hotel in Sao Paulo, Brazil, while the best restaurant in the fine dining category is Le Bernardin in New York City. Balance Spa with Clarins (Tucson, Arizona) won the award for the best Spa.
The next series of awards concern hotel design in general. Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel (Chicago) won the award in the category “Best midscale/upscale design”. W hotel in Paris Opera was chosen as the best boutique hotel design. Finally, The St. Regis Aspen Resort was chosen as the best resort design. Lijiang Pullman Resort & Spa Hotel (China) received the award for the design of its suites.
Many hotels are made in historic buildings, so there is a special category for them. This year the award was won by Hotel Alfonso XIII in Seville, Spain.
The ceremony took place in New York, but a part of it took place in Paris.
