Shanghai Tower J-Hotel, which is currently under the building process, will be opened by Interstate Hotels & Resorts in 2014, making it the highest hotel in the world.
The hotel will be located in Shanghai Tower – the highest building in China and the second tallest one in the world. The building will have 121 stores, with stores from 84 to 110 occupied by the hotel. The 258-key hotel’s lobby will be made on the 101st floor. Interstate Hotels & Resorts will act here as the building organization and managing functions will be transferred to Jin Jiang International Hotels Group that will open this hotel in Shanghai under the J-Hotels flag. This brand features the hotels of ultra-luxury category.
After the opening Shanghai Tower J-Hotel will steal the title of the highest hotel in the world from the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Hong Kong. This property is also yet to open in March 2011. The hotel will be located in International Commerce Centre and will occupy floors from 112 to 118. Even though the Ritz-Carlton occupies higher floors than the J-Hotel, the highest mark of the Hong Kong property is 1,588 ft. above the sea level, while J-Hotel’s top mark reaches 1,781 ft.
Together with the announcement about the future hotel, two companies have mentioned they are planning to form an investment fund named JT Reality Advisors. It will be targeted on China’s hotel and tourism sector.
