According to the latest report from MarketWatch from London, IHG will create new brand that will work on the territory of China only and will be tightly connected with traditions and customs of this country. The name of the brand is not yet known.
As Jan Smiths, Asia, Middle East & Africa operations chief executive, states, the famous hotelier has already signed contracts for 12 properties across the country. It is reported that IHG will open hotels in Shanghai and Beijing, as well as in some secondary cities. The brand will be targeted at middle class tourists and so the company plans to expand greatly within next several years.
India remains the second most important city for IHG. Here the company plans to have as many as 150 properties across the country by 2020. Now the portfolio of IHG in India consists of 14 hotels. In order to make this ambitious plan come true, IHG has plans to start collaboration with Duet India. Both companies plan to build and open 19 Express Inn branded hotels within just 5 years. The Middle East is also included in the sphere of interest of IHG. Here the hotelier plans to double its portfolio in several years.
