InterContinental Hotels & Resorts is intending to supply its concierge service with Apple iPad tablet computers. The test will involve InterContinental Barclay hotel in New York, InterContinental Buckhead in Atlanta, InterContinental Park Lane in London and InterContinental Hotel in Hong Kong.
Portable iPad sensor devices will enable hotel employees to read and share all sorts of information with guests. Tourists who have been lucky to try the new service are free to post feedbacks at twitter.com/WorldConcierge.
InterContinental hopes that this innovative initiative will contribute to better communication between hotel employees and guests in the following fields:
Maps and directions. Apple iPad devices will enable concierges to provide precise directions, high-resolution satellite images, street maps and detailed walk routes for customers to enjoy safe and comfortable excursions.
Video guides. InterContinental provides a unique video advice service permitting concierges to provide video information on directions to guests prior to departure.
Instant confirmation. Apple iPad gives a lot of new possibilities, including, but not limited to, viewing real time reports on accommodations, sights or oncoming events. Also, the service provides real time booking and instant confirmation via email.
