SPAA (the Spa Association) has revealed main trends for the next year.
In 2012 uniqueness and regional peculiarities will become very popular. More people make trips abroad and they want to try something authentic and explore new traditions and services. Europeans have already fallen in love with ‘quick-fix’ spa programs that are popular in American hotels. Nowadays many Asians come to Western Europe and they want to try regional spas as well.
Well-developed countries age rapidly, and so when they visit spa, they want to undergo some anti-ageing programs. This has already become a massive spa trend. Health-oriented programs and time-measured therapies are the second major trend. Balneo and thallasso therapies, salt caves, hammams and banyas – spa procedures should offer not only relaxation, but also help to cure aches or respiratory ailments.
Today customers become savvier and they want to pay for results. Injectibles, laser hair removal, extending of lashes and other procedures become more popular, so spa centers start acquiring medical proofs and add new spa products.
Finally, spa centers are a wonderful way of socializing. Yoga, cooking, art classes are a great way to learn something new and get acquainted with new people. For many years such activities have been popular in destination spas, but now urban spas also start offering them.
