Hilton Worldwide will open a hotel in Melaka, Malaysia, by its DoubleTree by Hilton brand. This is going to be the second property of the famous hotelier in this country. Hilton will operate this hotel through a management agreement with the owner Hatten Group.
The 265-key accommodation is scheduled for opening in 2014. The hotel will occupy 27 stores of a mixed-use development that will also feature a trading center and residential apartments. The building will be located in the downtown of Melaka, Malacca, and will feature a waterfront location.
Hilton Worldwide has recently started an aggressive expansion on Asia Pacific region. Here the company opens hotels under its most famous and award-winning brands like Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts, Hilton Hotels & Resorts, DoubleTree by Hilton, Conrad Hotels & Resorts and Hilton Garden Inn. At the moment Hilton operates 6 hotels in Asia Pacific under the DoubleTree brand. These are hotels in Kuala Lumpur and China. Hilton representatives state they hope to create solid partnership here and continue expanding their collection of hotels in Southeast Asia. The company keeps searching for new potential hotels and considers offers either from newly built or from existing hotels.
