Marriott International will open 15 hotels in India under the Fairfield brand. All accommodations will be opened within next 4 years. Fairfield is a new brand launched by Marriott exclusively for India. The hotels under it will feature middle-class accommodations and will be customized for Indian guests.
All hotels will be opened through a joint venture with the local hotel investment firm SAMHI Hotels Pvt. Ltd. Both companies plan to open hotels in Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and other large cities of India. When opened, the hotels will add up over 2500 guestrooms to the hotelier’s portfolio.
Currently Indian market is one of the fastest growing ones in the world. The middle class of India is currently more than 200 million of people, so this is a huge opportunity for a brand like Fairfield by Marriott.
Marriott has also revealed the prototype of a typical Fairmont hotel. This is going to be the 166-key hotel inspired by Fairfield Inn & Suites brand, which was founded in 1987 and soon after reached sufficient popularity in the North America with over 660 properties operating in the region. The prototype hotel will be more tailored to Indian traditions – it will have an all-day restaurant with authentic Indian cuisine and additional Western menu, a 24/7 Market featuring drinks and snacks, a bar lounge and a large meeting space. The designs in Fairfield hotels will have several palettes inspired by peacocks, turmeric, saffron and Indian textiles.
This project falls under Marriott’s aim to have 100 hotels in Indian by 2015. The first hotel in this country, Marriott Goa, opened in 1999. Since that time the hotelier has expanded its presence and added JW Marriott, Courtyard by Marriott, Marriott Hotels & Resorts, Renaissance and Marriott Executive Apartments brands to the country.
